30 days to a perkier me.

Well that is what I am hoping for. I [with two other friends] have started doing a 30 day detox. What I like about this detox is that it involves food. I do have to give up a few things for the 30 days…such as

  • dairy and eggs
  • gluten and wheat
  • processed sugar
  • soy
  • coffee, soda, alcohol
  • beef and pork [well that’s easy as a vegetarian]
  • creamed vegetables and peanuts
  • corn oil [never use the stuff]
  • whey protein [never use it either…that I know of]

I am supposed to eat the following…

  • whole vegetables, leafy greens
  • brown rice, non-gluten grains
  • stevia [we will see if we really need that]
  • beans, lentils
  • green tea, apple cider vinegar
  • wild fish, organic chicken and turkey [hmmmm…the fowl won’t be included]
  • coconut oil and milk
  • plant based protein powder
  • lemon water

The second list is not a hard one. Almost all are already in my diet.

Start date = TODAY

This was breakfast…

  • 1 banana
  • 1 kiwifruit
  • heaped tablespoon protein powder
  • heaped tablespoon LSA
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 cup water [boiled and cooled…my filter is on the blink]
  • 1 cup berries

Then blend away.

Oh my God…it was soooooo yummy.

I shall keep you posted during the month. My main reason is to get my energy levels back up…they have been flagging a little lately. I shall need more energy to learn how to operate my newest addition to the family. She took those amazing sunrise photos for me the other day.

Now I need to decide what lunch will be.

  1. I say…with what little I know…to replace the stevia with agave or brown rice syrup. Too many weird news blips lately coming out about stevia. Ohhh Jo…I cant WAIT to hear how you feel!!! Did you see my raw chocolate truffle recipe on fb? It’s heaven..and doesnt have any of your no-no’s. If you need any more ideas…might be able to help. I try to eat that way all the time.

  2. Awesome! Looking forward to hearing/seeing how it goes; I think I probably need to do something like this.

      1. Good luck. I’m doing “dry July” and while I’m not really missing alcohol, my coffee consumption has gone up. I’d
struggle to totally give up caffeine!

        1. I had never heard of ‘dry July’ until you told me. I must admit today when I was playing in the kitchen with a new recipe I did miss the glass of wine on the counter.

          1. Hi Jo. I know what you mean; I’m not a big drinker really, but a glass of wine while I’m cooking just feels right. How is the new regime going? Well I hope.

          2. So far so good. Missing the coffee in the morning. But today I made a yummy dinner. I did a post on it. My very own concoction…with a few ideas from the web, turned to suit me of course.

          3. Just read your post; yum!!! A friend sent me a vegan Alfredo sauce recipe recently made with cauliflower. You’ve inspired me to find it and try a version of one of these myself. Glad it’s going well. 🙂

          4. Will do. She also sent me a cauliflower “risotto” recipe. Will try them both and take pics. Thanks. 🙂

  3. I could cope with that but confess I’d be a bit bored towards the end. I’ll be interested to hear how the camera is, I’d like to upgrade my 450d if I could afford it and the 60d gets good reviews, what lens is that, kit 18-135?

  4. Enjoy the detox Jo. I’ve tried once but couldn’t keep up as my body can’t expel lactic acid and my joints started aching and swolled up. Guess it’s the fibro thing that doesn’t work so well.
Love the newest addition to the family! She is gorgeous! Have fun hon! 😀 *hugs*

  5. The smoothie is good stuff and delicious! I made one with a couple of mangos this morning 🙂 Thank you for sharing your list with us! LOVE your new toy 🙂

  6. The fruit looks yummy and the smoothie looks scrumptious! Great camera. I’m glad you’re keeping us posted on your – ah – posts. Saves us from asking how its going. 😉
GOOD LUCK with both the food and the fotos.
