a wet nose against my leg
my child’s voice on the phone
a purr in the otherwise silent night
building a picture with words
or from an old photo
sugared coffee rolling over my tongue
bantering with a friend,
a thunderstorm of gold raining into my world

You take me back to the 60’s and things I shouldn’t remember. 🙂 This was beautiful and I agree it was real, except that first part of course. My nose isn’t wet. 😉

…a thunderstorm of gold raining into my world
What a brilliant final line. A really lovely metaphor, all the more powerful because it follows on from all the – apparently – ordinary and everyday things that are the abundance of the title. The line itself is like a thunderstorm of gold at the end of the poem.
