Short stories are great.

Writing a short story can be harder than trying to finish that 50,000 word novel.

The art is in being able to have a complete tale in a few hundred or thousand words, while still leaving the reader with a feeling of completeness.

There are many great and famous short story writers:

  • Katherine Mansfield
  • Raymond Carver
  • Roald Dahl
  • Stephen King
  • Leo Tolstoy

are just a few.

One day I hope to be counted amongst them.

I hope that you enjoy the ones on offer.

  1. Congratulations on your successful blog–and thank you so much for checking out my humble little burgeoning one, and Liking my Travel Theme: Red photography post!! *Following* your beautiful blog now. I look forward to perusing your site further. I too am a writer, both fiction and nonfiction, and I TOTALLY agree that it can be harder to finish a short story than a novel. I’ve completed 6 fiction novels, and parts of several nonfiction ones, and a handful of decent short stories, and I’d much rather write an 80,000-word novel than a 10,000-word short story! It’s just the kind of writer I am, I guess–novels are my raison de’tre =)

There are two things I know for certain. One: Bert and Ernie are gay. Two: I want to hear your opinion.
