Today I am busy.

Yes I am.

Tomorrow is our local A&P Show. The A&P stands for agricultural and pastoral. Every year in February we run it. Yes, somehow I ended up on a committee. Something I swore I would never do again. This is my 3rd year running the photography competition.

There are seven categories.

  1. People
  2. Monotone
  3. Nature
  4. Landscape
  5. Creative
  6. Junior A [11-15 years] Open
  7. Junior B [10 years & under] Open.

We also have a Challenge Plate winner. For every entry that wins a 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize points are awarded. The person with the most points gets this plate to keep for a year, and their name engraved on it.

Every winner gets a ribbon.

And a certificate.

And I have raised some cash and vouchers that I divide up between the winners. I am really looking forward to seeing what people enter. I have entered 10 myself. Two in each category, which is the limit. Luckily I am not the judge, so I can still enter.

I wrote this post and scheduled it as tomorrow as I will be busy. However today I quit as organiser. Why? I was ambushed by a bunch of old power hungry biddies. For the last couple of years there has been issues. I don’t do as I am told sadly and it annoys them. However the lovely chairwoman of the committee simply refused to even discuss me quitting. Very clever strategy BTW. She just ignored the words ‘I quit’ completely. So tomorrow I go in for what could be round two.

    I am so pleased you dropped by my blog today and said hello.. Its been ages since our paths crossed..
    Wonderful that you donate prizes and make it so special for all those who enter..

  4. Yay for A&P Shows; boo for committees (or at least the tyrants who are attracted to them). I hope your photos did well, and I hope you can neutralise the bullies. I’ve been making jam and sorting photos to enter in the Helensville Show. Figure I should show my support for old-school NZ.

    1. One of them mention yesterday how it was better to ask me than to tell me. So maybe the message is getting through. Truth is Gilly by yesterday I had let it go. Life’s too short. But I do plan to mention it at the next meeting. I have to draw the line at swearing at me.
