Is synchronized swimming still around?

This is just a small group in Auckland.
WetHotBeauties
They put on a lovely production of Swan Lake, but with a twist last year called Swan Song.
This year it was just a short production at one of Auckland’s beaches, but still fun to see.

But, they must still be represented in the Olympics, right?
I mean if ballroom dancing made it to Olympic status years ago, surely this synchronized swimming is still recognized.
I hardly watch TV and have no clue who’t been going on last 2-1/2 years.

I have no idea…but I don’t remember seeing it lately. I barely watch TV these days, except for a few favourite shows.

I don’t watch TV either and am not on top of what’s going on at the Olympics.

I have to admit that I am purposely NOT watching the Olympics this year…my own little protest at the way Russia treats its LGBT community.

It was very different to last year. This time it was at a beach in Auckland. Same time as those ‘king tides’ were coming in. And it was much shorter…but very cleverly done.

They have just cut the funding here in UK, and now they might fall away. 😉

That is sad Gerry. These guys don’t get a lot of funding. Last year to put on their show ‘Swan Song’, they did some crowdfunding to pay for costumes and props.

AS one who can’t even swim, I am in awe. To me water is lovely, keeps me alive sort of thing, (drinkswise) and that’s it, I can apreciate it too, in photo’s, sun hitting the sea and creating beauty to makes the throat catch, and your above photo, using it and creating balletic form and fun.. Marvellous stuff. (not really wordless, but then I’m totally unable to keep silent!! 😉 ) xPenx

No need for you to be silent at all. I don’t swim well either…but I sure would love to have given something like this a go at least once.

I did this same pose this morning. LOL
I think the gals that do this are incredible. The strength and physical
ability that it takes along with practice is commendable.
Great photo for WW ….!!!!
