    1. Must be different here Harry…the guys are the ones that are ALWAYS texting…not that way too many woman don’t do that, they do. Sadly most won’t learn to pull over to text until either they are dead/hurt, someone they love is or they kill someone.
      😦

          1. I don’t think it really matters Harry…who does it the most…male/female…young/old…it just is sad that the maessage doesn’t seem to get through that it is dangerous.

      1. I think it is a problem across the whole human spectrum…and a bigger one than many realise because many are dying across the world because people have the arrogance to think they can both drive and text.

    1. I wish I didn’t agree with you Tom. I do. But I guess I feel the same about these types of messages as I do about taking on some battles in life…even the ones you know you will lose. It is just something you should do because like some fights HAVE to be fought…some messages have to shouted out.

      1. I think I’ve done my usual Piscean trait of saying one thing but seeming to say another… 😦 I was referring to the text messages being the pointless messages, not the message of the film – which really does need to be shouted out. Sorry for the confusion, Jo… just thought I’d clarify! 🙂

        1. Nah…it is probably me Tom…I don’t always GET what someone really means. Comes from living with unicorns and fairies inside my head. Those guys make a mess of everything.

          1. You’re not Piscean are you? Have I asked you before? If I have I don’t remember, but my head is probably just as full as yours – if not fuller.
But no, it was me this time. I had to read my comment back twice today before I got what I meant…!

    1. I wish they would get people in who had killed someone through this to talk with people before they go for their test or who are caught doing it. I have seen it done with drivers who are repeat offenders sometimes…and meeting real people who have been through what they could cause really does seem to make them listen at least.

  2. I can’t believe that just as I opened this post up, I had the tv on and there was a story about a 25 year old guy on a motorcycle stopped at a red light and was rear-ended by a girl who was texting. He died immediately. He was five minutes from home. These kinds of deaths are so senseless (and it doesn’t matter which gender is texting)

    1. I think the trouble is that the old adage ‘it won’t happen to me’ is around for a reason. People really think that way. It isn’t until they lose someone or kill someone that it dawns on them…yes it can.

  3. You use your space here wisely and the documentary if for the betterment of all. I commend you for doing so.

Just before Christmas a little red jeep veered into a taxi van with five passengers, the driver of the taxi was killed. No charges of yet but are pending , though speculation is the driver of the was distracted -cell phone.

A month before that, at six in the morning, a pick up truck slammed with out breaking into a Amish horse drawn carriage. Both were seriously injured, one if he live will be permanently disabled. Just a few days ago, the driver was formally charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, careless driving and more. Because detail won’t come out till later. The severity of the charges suggest texting. *In the Province of Ontario (though if not all of Canada has gone this way) texting, mobile phone or any behavior which is distracting is a chargeable offensive under the Traffic act and if such actions result in injury or death the charges and penalties fall into the Criminal Code.

I honestly don’t understand using a cellphone or texting. It is simply a total disregard for the safety and well being of others. ………..sorry and I apologizes for the ramble.

    1. Thanks HH !!! You can come and rant here anytime you want ! It is against the law here, but I see so many still doing it. I don’t know what the solution is. The only thing I have seen was a documentary where they got victims of driving crimes [it was speeding I think] to go and talk to repeat offenders about what happened to them and what it did to their lives. This seemed to get through to some of them at least. other than that how to you overcome people’s arrogance…to me that is what it is…arrogance of their ability to do do all these things at once.

  4. Now that I no longer drive, I don’t own a car, I see so much more that is going on when people are driving. From the pavement I observe people texting, talking, or doing random things behind the wheel and not paying attention. It scares the crap out of me and I’m not sure I ever want to own a car again. Driving is not a right it’s a privilege and people need to treat it with the respect it deserves. Too many useless deaths occur every day.

  5. Tragic. It is illegal here too, but hey, who follows rules in India? Thanks for sharing Jo, am going to pass this around to all the young adults we know.

  6. 😦 I had seen this before and agree with many of the comments here. Sadly, in many places, it is not yet illegal! Can you believe that??? It’s crazy. And sad. The next bumper sticker I am getting for my car says “Hang up and DRIVE” – it amazes me that society has even COME to that point. Who would have ever dreamed that we would have phones in our cars? At what point is my life more important than your ego (phone call)?! I get road rage when I see this kind of stupidity. Grrrr.
