tis the season…

I have found in the time I have been blogging that the community that exists is special in so many areas. It’s informative, fun, passionate, BUT the most important quality I have found in it is that is is supportive.

At times I have been asked:

  • Isn’t it time consuming ?
  • How can you ever know these people ?
  • Aren’t you afraid you’ll meet a lot of kooks ?

And too many other questions to name. Non bloggers don’t get it. That’s okay. Because I do !! Many of you do too. In the last few months I have been shown so much support when I needed it. Some of that support has come about through your comments, or through your wonderfully insightful posts…and some from blogging awards. I think they are wonderful things. Admittedly I don’t follow the rules…being a PIRATE and all. But the feeling I get when someone takes the time to nominate my little blog is immense.

So while I may take time to answer some of them…please never feel that you don’t make my heart swell when you hand them out to me. The feeling I get is something like this…

seagull in flight

So though long overdue…I should like to acknowledge the following awards you have given me, and I should like to thank the bloggers who thought of me.

Please click on each award to be taken to the page of the wonderful blogger who took the time to acknowledge “Chronicles”

award For this award I will fulfill this condition. Finish this sentence. A GREAT reader is…who loves the words enough to get lost in them.

veryinspiringblogger1blog_affidabileThe following three awards all came from a wonderful blogger. Boy do I feel special !!!

Now there are just so many wonderful blogs out there. I don’t pass awards on. Not usually. But just this once I want to list some of the blogs that I feel deserve not one, but ALL these awards.

It is up to you what you do with one or all of them. Thank you all for being part of my world. It is a better place because you are there with me in whatever way you choose to. For all of you I am extremely grateful.

For more you can always check out the awards page.

Totally unrelated post here. Check out Michael Andrew’s blog. He is running a photography competition and has put up the final nominees for the SPORTS PHOTOGRAPHY CATEGORY – OMG is all I can say…just amazing. I wish I could take images like these. All you photographers will love this – just love it.

  1. Congratulations, Jo!
I’m an old stick in the mud when it comes to awards, but thank you for the mention. You’re right about blogging… we are part of a good community, and we aren’t all kooky! I’m still laughing at that e-card you posted! 🙂

    1. I just wanted you to know you ARE appreciated Tom…awards can be a lot of work. That’s why I don’t give them out so much as say: “Hey here they are – take one if you will!!!!!”

  2. Congratulations on another great year of blogging, Jo!
You’re right: those that don’t blog, don’t get it. 🙂
Thanks so much for recognising my blog. Much appreciated!
Hope to see you in the New Year. (((hugs)))
    Kirsten x

  3. I really appreciate Jo, Thanks for kindness and support so busy for my work this coming days ,need a full concentration my friend 🙂

  4. A cupboard full of awards and friends, Jo. It’s wonderful, isn’t it? I’m looking forward to that bit just after Christmas when I can just sit and read and absorb.

  5. Wow!! How cool is that! All these wonderful awards! I will pick one eventually, once I have worked out what to do with them, like you I don’t follow rules, but I’m thrilled to be nominated & I think this is a cool way to pass that appreciation on, and also share blogs you like…. Like a ‘blogroll of the month’

I think I will visit all your nominees & check out the competition for the title of Jo’s bestest blogfriend 🙂

          1. But I did answer lots of questions on there…and there are even videos. I am actually rather proud of my awards page.

And then there were these too…

The Seven Links Award [the comments are the best part…hysterical !!!

And the award goes to… [I got a little carried away with gifs of The Boys again…

            Thank You !!
[even AC/DC got in on the act.

And for an Oscar winning acceptance speech – You Like Me !!!!!

If you don’t know ALL there is to know about me after those posts…well I don’t know anymore !!!!!!!!!!!!

          2. Yes, I think the page is fab…. It joins in the fun of getting the award, it offered others the chance to participate to whatever level they choose, and you get to answer lots & lots of silly questions!

Have you written 101 questions for award acceptances yet?

  6. Congrats!! You DO deserve every single one of these and more! 🙂 I’m so happy that I was fortunate enough to “meet” you in the blogging world. Someday, I’d like to get to NZ to neet ya in rl, but finances prohibit such an awesome trip right now. But we would have SO much fun! 😀

          1. Very, very true. The Son and his girlfriend are coming home for the night. Can’t wait – I get to cook for him. One of my most favourite things to do.

  7. You deserve these and more! Congrats and blog on!
Thanks so much for including me on your list with so many wonderful people. I don’t know them all but those that I do I feel honored to be among. ( that can’t be proper English!) none the less. Thank you, Jo.

  8. Well, we know what a sweetheart you are! And perhaps because of my seeing your note today, I actually wrote a new post! Of course, something happened as a catalyst too, but who knows whether I would write without a little extra boost? 🙂

  9. Thank you, you pirate you. I have so enjoyed meeting you, and all the wonderful bloggers that I have met through WordPress. It’s a great little community of interesting people with so much creativity. Thanks, and congrats to you!

  10. Wow, you have collected a lot of awards! They are a lot of work, and they are a great way to get acquainted when you first get started blogging. Happy blogging in 2013!

    1. I have been lucky !!! But I usually just pop them on the awards page these days with a thank you. The first few times I answered all the questions …so if people head there they can find out all about me. And I hate being the one to make others have to do the work…hence the NO RULES policy. People can take them or not…do the rules or not. It is up to them. For new bloggers it’s a good thing…and for older bloggers – well we get a bit lazy as we go on I think.

  11. Thank you so much Jo! I totally admire your blog and am really honoured that you put me on your list. I love colour so I’ll choose a badge based on that, but which one?

    1. Personally Georgia I think you should pilfer the first two. I like that first one [for those who refuse to live in the real world], but the second is PRETTY and colourful.

  12. You so deserve your awards Jo and I ‘ve just been over and peeped at your awards page ….
    *MyGollyGosh* :-O
From your writing, to your photos, to your outlook on life, to your blow ups on things that matter to you I love it 😉
Thankyou so much for your mention I really appreciate it ((Jo)) …..
Do you mind if I’m with Tom (AquaTom1968) on this one.
Keep Blogging… *You’ve* got a special knack of making People rather HAPPY !!!!!

    1. Mind…of course not. As a PIRATE I firmly do not believe in rules at all…only the rule that says there are no rules. I just wanted to acknowledge your visits to me [very encouraging] and your wonderful posts.

      1. 🙂
Still AMAZED how I can connect so PDQ with someone 100000’s of miles away !!
I’m up drinking Tea looking out at a lovely frosty scene Brrrrrr ..

  13. Congratulations on all of your awards Pirate Jo! Well deserved and generously shared… Thank you for including my blog on your list. I appreciate the mention… I can’t believe we are racing to the end of 2012. What a year! 🙂

  14. First of all, congratulations on your own awards, Jo – very well deserved.

I’m honoured that you thought of me as one of your nominations. Thanks so much. I have chosen to take a star (my sixth and final star) for the Blog of the Year Awards.

    Hope that’s OK with you.

  15. You have received a LOT of awards, wow 😀 Awesome and well deserved. Congratulations, Jo!

Nominating both of my blogs is so very generous and sweet of you, Jo, THANK YOU! Super huge grin here, hehehe. I feel so honored. Alas I can’t accept any of these beautiful rewards, you can find the reason why on my ‘About’ page: http://drieskewrites.wordpress.com/about/ > On Awards. But that doesn’t mean your message didn’t make me happy! *warmest hugs*

    ~ Marion

    1. That’s cool. I don’t usually do awards. But it was more in the way of acknowledging blogs I enjoy and feel deserve recognition. Personally as a pirate I take the award and completely disregard ALL the rules. Much more fun.

  16. FANTASTIC! Congrats on ALL your awards. Well deserved. AND very creative how you created this post. Thank you for the nod. I’ve taken a breather from blogging for a while (school is all-consuming!) but I’m glad I checked in to see what is going on. This was a great post. Congrats to ALL recipients. 🙂

  17. Thanks Jo, and congrats to you. I accepted a couple of awards or three, but now I have opetd out of the awrdas thing on my blog. I just felt guilty about not getting around to passing them quickly enough. But I do appreciate the gesture a great deal. When someone tells me they like what i do on my apge it is a good feeling. Like you, i never suspected how suportive the blogosphere would be. So thank-you again. 🙂

    1. That’s okay Isobel. I don’t usually hand awards on. I just wanted to tell people about all the wonderful blogs I have visited and the people behind them who support me on here with their kind words and encouragement. As a pirate I don’t do rules anymore…so I never impose them on anyone else. But I did want to thank everyone for once.

  18. Great job on the post, Jo. And I totally agree with your assessment…I have met some wonderful people in the blogging community (you are one of them, of course!), and you are right again, I don’t think non-bloggers understand. Congrats on the awards, you deserve every one! And thanks for the mention of both of my blog. I am honored. Here’s to a wonderful year of blogging ahead! 🙂

    1. Ah yes – roll on 2013…we dear Sue are honoured with your posts, your visits, your comments. It has been a pleasure to learn to know you and I hope others get to do that as I have.

    1. Thanks Cee. You have always been so encouraging – right frOm the moment I met you on here and I love your blog and your challenges. So actually – THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!

  19. Self expression on platforms like WordPress are far superior to the multitude of Facebook-type spam factories that continue to spread like cancer. It’s a different breed of producer/consumer in this blog-universe…

    1. Very true Bear. Here one of my favourite things is the sense of community more than people just trying to use you for promotion…though you do get some of those too. Thank God for the spam filter…though that gives me a chuckle every now and then.

  20. Jo, thank you for your lovely visit and nomination to choose.. Like you It takes an age to accept awards and I am always humbled that people give them me… So thank you so much Jo…. Just be patient with a Dreamwalker. 🙂
    love and blessings….

      1. Arrgh Bless you Jo, Im juggling so much at the moment, with extra shifts and training courses this week…. Loved today though my only day off and working the weekend. But had my 2 yr old granddaughter for the day…. Boy oh boy is she in tune with everything… talking counting up to 20 knows her colours and recognises her ABCs…. my children were never that advanced and they both have good IQs… so who knows what my treasured Little Red Headed 2 yr old is going to be… LOL… makes Life so worth while..
        Love and Hugs xoxox

        1. Wonderful Sue…you go and enjoy. My son and his girlfriend are coming home for tonight. I won’t see them again til January as they are off to Europe for the holidays. Off in to town to get everything to make a yummy dinner. have a great weekend.

  21. From one kook to another (kooks are good and interesting I do believe), for myself what draws me back to the sites I visit besides the interesting and diverse content, is how the poster’s receive and interact with visitors. And you definitely respond in a positive respectful manner which is real to yourself as well in a way that welcomes those who visit. So it does not surprise me the accolades bestowed upon you.

I probably won’t snatch an award, but (and it is a big BUT), I feel privileged beyond words (as close to speechless as I get) to have a link to the blogsphere of Beyond Plum Creek grace your page here. So I graciously and humbly thank you. It is an honour that am truly grateful. A couple months ago I finally got around to building a kind of blog roll al la Hudson Howl style. It is an eclectic group and if you haven’t noticed your there http://www.beyondplumcreek.com/shtufffs/#/?page_id=837

So all the best to you, to those close to you and to the land you show us, this holiday season. Looking forward to reading and seeing your ‘shtuffs’ here in 2013. Salut

    1. Awwwwwwwwwww – I feel all humble. Have you any idea how difficult it is to make me himble…ummm I mean humble ???????????? On both counts. I like al la Hudson Howl STYLE…reminds me of life’s good things…
I got lots of shtuffs for 2013…lots and lots and lots.

  22. Congratulations my friend. Just like you, I think we have the most supportive blogger friends out there. People ask my why I blog too. First, I love doing it. It’s my way to express my hopes, dreams and the things I go through. It’s one way to ventilate and feel not alone. Second, I learn important life lessons from others as well as find inspiration. Third, I just feel I belong in a community that understands, motivates each other no matter what. Thanks for sharing all this awards. I am overjoyed and yes, best Christmas gift ever!

  23. All well deserved awards. I am with you on the world of blogging. It is a commmunity of caring and generous people who can be of great support. I appreciate your posting me as a blogger who awarded you an award. I hope that in 2013 I will be able to exceed my level of interaction with all of the wonderful blogger I have met. Thanks for being one of my follwers.
Merry Christmas … Happy New Year
    Isadora xoxox

  24. Oh, Jo, thank you so much and I am so late! I saw the email and then got wrapped up in something else – maybe Pitch Wars, I forget now. Or school book lists and fees and stuff. Stuff, my life is full of stuff lately! 🙂

Merry Christmas to you and yours and I will think of it! Just as soon as the madness stops!

    Thank you!

  25. Wow, quite a lot of awards Jo and many thanks for linking my blog and having you authorize me to take as much award as I would, so I would like to grab ’em all, haha…

Seriously, thanks for the usual support! While I may not always be actively blogging, I do acknowledge each and every bloggers support for my blog including you, much appreciated here, as always!

By the way, I like it when you said “please never feel that you don’t make my heart swell when you hand them out to me.” – it is very true. If you don’t mind I would like to take the phrase and have it linked here for my “Awards” page.

Thanks again for the recognition and Happy Holidays! 🙂

  26. Congratulations! That is a veritable harvest Jo!
Not surprising, considering the fantastic blogger that you are! It is my pleasure to know you, and I am touched and grateful to be included in your list. Many thanks 🙂

    1. Thank you Madhu !!!!!! I am so touched when people think of Chronicles when they hand out awards…and how could I NOT include you and your terrific blog ???

  27. Congratulations on all the awards Jo, you deserve each and every one – it has been a great blogging year for you!
Thank you for the mention too, it’s much appreciated, and it’s great to be a part of this wonderful and supportive community that we have here
