instead of eating dinner (my very yummy homemade curried cauliflower soup) and catching up with Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam), from Sons of Anarchy on the TV last night,

Admit it…The Boys are (as Dean would so succinctly tell you) AWESOME !!!

is the next yummiest male on TV right now…

I spent the night like this…

Brought back memories of a wasted (and I mean that literally) youth…hehehe

A tip – do NOT run your hand over a still HOT ceramic hotplate.

It hurts !!!

  1. Oh my gosh, hope it heals up soon. 😦 Burns are terrible. I had to pass these ads along – too funny. The one which I found hardest to fathom was the one about tapeworms O_o…that people actually did that to stay thin…ick. Can’t believe they were pushing Coca-Cola on babies! The beer…well, maybe…MAYBE…but Coke? Crazy world we live in. And yes, the Boys ARE AWESOME! 😀

    1. Thanks Corina…me too !!! I just had fun trying to have a shower…amazing how difficult it is to do stuff with one hand when you are used to two. Heard from The Daughter that The Son might be coming home this weekend so that will help a lot. He is really good with doing stuff, any stuff….so it will be great to have him here.
      Yep – that tapeworm one had me looking at it twice. How strange are some people ???

  2. Your poor hand! I’m glad to hear it’s not serious, but even minor burns hurt a lot. Hope it clears up soon! And the boys are so handsome. And now, working backward to the incredible ads –

    “Start them on a strict regimen of sugary carbonated beverages right now”?!?!?!?!!!! Can that even be a real ad? I suppose so, considering the other gems you have here!

    Obviously, that was GOING to be my pick as the most insane of all. And then I came to the tapeworms…shudder…go ahead, feed your baby Coke. From birth. Maybe earlier. Just keep those worms away from me.

      1. The “let the little woman do the housework” ads are pretty awful (though I do like that green and white thing the woman in #6 is wearing, just not the main point of the ad). But the coke ad and tapeworm ad are So Much Worse I can’t even bother to rank the Women Love Cleaning ones.

  4. Actually, the gun add might still go over quite well today in America. They say sales were up big time for the 2011 Christmas season … ammunition, too. It must have something to do with our corrupt Government and the subconscious knowledge that we may have to repeat 1776 to straighten our Nation out. Or maybe people just plan to hunt more. Hmmmm. Something to think about.

    I hope your hand heals quickly. Enjoy the memories of your youthful days while you are on the mend. 😉

  6. It’s difficult to just pick one, but I’m going to go with doctors smoke Camels. I don’t much like smoking but I kind of miss those old cigarette ads. So strange.

  7. Ouch…thanks for the tip about the hot plate and sorry you had to learn for all of us. It is hard to choose a favorite…some of them are disturbing. The gun one, well I can still see that in parts of the US.

    1. All but one disturbed me – for different reasons. The blatant stereotyping of woman and the ‘chubby’ kids (as well as viewing them as servants), the bizarre lengths people would go to lose weight…but it was so interesting as well. A slice of historical truth about where society was at that time.

  9. It is difficult to choose just one favorite, Jo! BUT, if I have to…I think the tapeworm ad is my fav. I can relate to that kind of insanity and yet seeing it sheds light on how ridiculously consumed I can become with my outward appearance.
    I hope your hand heals quickly! Burns are no fun!

  10. OMG Jo! That looks serious indeed! I do hope you feel better soon hon. Thanks for these lovely laughs and laugh I did indeed with a few murderous thoughts. Oh, those men can be so glad I wasn’t around in their time! I can assure you the advertisements wouldn’t have been the same afterwards either. LOL! My fav is no. 8.

    1. The hand is doing better. It was only superficial burns…so all will be fine. Off to the doctors later to get the dressing changed, but my feeling is that all is good. Always happy to provide a nice pic of The Boys…they do scrub up well don’t they !!!!
      Yep number 8 is a goody…on sooooooooooo many levels…hehehe

  14. awwww Jo, so sorry to hear you are in the wars and nursing a burn… I always at one time or another would be catching myself on the bars of the oven, I keep an Aloevera plant now in my kitchen window sill.. break off a bit of the leaves and put the gloop sap all over the burn.. It takes a whole lot of sting out and prevents blisters from forming.. I now swear by it…

    1. Glad they made you laugh Ed. Burnt hand…pish tosh !!! A few days later the Denemted Fox Terrier caught one of my fingers in an accident and bit it. Ouch !!! It is still sore…but hey Buckshot can handle it. Oh YES PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE put the guys in !!!!!!!! PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
